Does anyone know the exact year Bom died and are there any great-grandchildren who remember her?

Arthur:

Aunt Mattie's grandson Alfred Freeman remembers Bom.  Alfred is the oldest great grandchild of Bom.  A picture and brief story of him and his family is featured on the Website. On the Website, go to "Family Connection" and scroll to the bottom of the page.  You'll find a link there to take you to his story where he mentions his familiarity of Bom.  He describes her as very nice and sweet and very strict.  He said she did not take any foolishness and when she spoke, "it was the law."  Anyway, check it out.  If you want to contact him, I have his phone number available.  You will enjoy talking to him as I did.

Another thing I remember about our great-grandmother, she always licked her plate clean after eating.

I definately remember Bom. I was only eight (8) years old when she died, I remember her funeral and I also remember when she had her leg amputated. I remember when she became ill. I think I remember her either injuring her leg on a washing machine or something and it never healing. If I am wrong, please correct me.I remember her cooking every day and I remember helping churn the butter for her, she had the best BUTTER in the world to go with the BEST BISCUITS in the world. I remember having biscuits to eat on all day long whenever we wanted them. I also remember the Watkins medications she had in her room, I think it was linament or something for arthritis or rheumatism and I can still smell the strong ordor that it emitted. . I remember her having white dollies on top of the tables in her house.and a "slop bucket" in her bedroom that had to be emptied every morning. (that was before we had flushing toilets.) I also, remember how afraid my father was of his mother finding out "anything negative" about him. I also remember hearing my mother threatening  "to tell ya' mama" and he "begging please don't tell Mama."(Being the Matriach of the Doyle family, she did not take "no mess" and everyone respected her. She was very, very independent and stoic, but kind and loving to all her "babies". This is just a small tidbit of my memories of my Grandmother "Bom", Mary Ada Overton Doyle....
